My G-Babies

This page is all about my 'G-Babies'. This is the term I use for them, because as much as I love being a 'G-Ma', I am still (and maybe always will be) dealing with the reality that I am actually old enough to HAVE grandchildren. Age, or actually the number, is not an issue for me... I believe you are 'as young as you feel'. It's just that when I was growing up both sets of my grandparents were your typical grandparents. That 'stereotypical' thing is stuck in my head I guess.

Both of my grandpa's wore suspenders, my "Grandma R" had the typical 'look' of a grandmother... gray hair, knitting needles, rocking chair, didn't drive, etc...' and my "Grandma N" went to a nursing home when I was 6. So.... yes, MY VIEW of being a grandma is that of rocking chairs, knitting and nursing homes. Although I don't exercise as much as I'd like, if at all, I am certainly not ready for a nursing home NOR do I even know how to knit. Thus, this "Gramma" will continue to use the term G-Babies!

With that understood.... let me introduce you to my 4 (soon to be 5) wonderful G-Babies. (Side note: Oldest daughter 'SK' has blessed us with 3 boys, while younger daughter 'MK' has bestowed upon us a beautiful girl and another girl on the way).

The oldest is J-Dog. No, I do not call him this, but for anonymity sake we'll go with it - it fits. He is now 7, in 2nd grade and extremely competitive. He has to be first, no matter where we go... even if he doesn't know which direction we may take. As you can probably guess, he spends a lot of energy running in different directions so as to 'beat' everyone to the proper destination. He is very smart, which I contribute to his mothers side of the gene pool and very athletic, which I contribute to his stepfather.

The next in line is Princess. Although I use this for anonymity again, this is very appropriate and she actually believes she is one. Princess is now 6, in the 1st grade and the only G-Girl in the bunch of boys, at least for a few more months. She can hold her own with the boys (and most adults), knows who Louis Vuitton and Justin Beiber are and can recite every word from Lord of the Rings, Cinderella AND iCarly. She, too, gets her wit, charm, beauty and artistic ability from her mothers side.

Next up is Magoo. Although there are many definitions for this name/word, they don't apply here. This is just a name that I've called him from day 1 and it has stuck only with me. Magoo is soon to be 6, in Kindergarten and the sweetest boy ever. For the most part... he chooses his words carefully and speaks in a 'matter of fact' manner about almost everything. He is not as competitive or driven as his older sibling, but will try anything once and if he likes it... he might decide to do it again. He's a thinker and a debater... much better traits as an adult than a 5 year old.

Nono is the youngest of the G- Boys. He gave himself this name as a toddler and although I have no real nickname for him... this will work. Nono is now 3, looks older than he is (because he is built like a linebacker) and just started pre-school. Yes, at 3... because he is smart! He is taking speech classes as he has difficulty getting every thought out of his intelligent brain in a manner that anyone can understand. I am excited for the day that he actually makes sense... I feel a Nobel Peace prize coming before he is 5. Nono is as competitive as J-Dog and has been able to body slam Magoo since he could stand, but he is also the first to run to Gramma or Papa and give us hugs and kisses.

Vee is due in March and will be our 5th G-Baby. I have no idea what personality she will have, but... she will be loved!

I look forward to many more in the future, but for now... this is about as close to perfect as it gets!!
